Long time ever since I wrote something in my blog

So, its a long time since have ever wrote something in my blog.

So maybe there are 3 things I want to actually write about.

Maybe not three. maybe more.

Soo lemme ask a question. Why do you think my class 1I1 is like.. screwed?

Is it because of Pilman?

Is it becae of my laptop keyboard being not sensitive?

Is it me??>?>>?>?>?

Is it the not so accurate marks??

Firstly about Phimann. His MSG is like 6++ and however from 1 he pulls the average MSG down 5.67/26. Doesn't seem a lot but also remember that usig MSG to compute insead of marks reslts in ths
using marks and MSG
subject Mrks MSG
eng 62 4
chinese 58 5
IMath 58 5
LSS 72 2
IS 58 5
IH 70 2

The maks average is 63 which is 4++ and the MSG?? 3.8333333333333333333333333.
lawl...

ergh
I don'twant to talk about philmann anymore.
But if you want t know m compuer keyboard can do the job.
Maybe not..

chaos theory

Maybe because my english ace is totally maxed (if projects day is included) but this blog is half dead. So I think that there is a way to revive this blog. Lemme write a pointless chaos theory.
All because of a pea:
The time is 9.30 am at the Brunch Club and a guy is eating a plate of corn, diced carrots, mashed potatoes, chicken and peas. Wait... peas? I forgot to tell you, that guy is allergic to peas. Narrators never tell you EVERYTHING. So the poor guy realises even with his specific order, a pea got into his mashed potato. His face begins to swell, and he begins to froth at the mouth. Struggling to even breathe, he topples the table, stunning the crowd. A waiter rushes forward to help him, and (what are the chances of that) slips on the plate sending pieces of chicken, corns and carrots, and a slab of mashed potato flying and hitting someone's wine lamb rump flambe. As it seems, the cook does a somersault and the plate in his hand, catches all of it skillfully onto a plate. The gas stove is still there. That could have caused a fire. He twirls it professionally and sprinkles garnishings of parsley and herbs, and a dousing of sauce. All is saved. Now you may be thinking what was used to cook the flambe? It can't be over the fire right? You are correct. The wine and sauce was in a metal pan, which the plate hit into the curtains. Wait a minute, isn't the pan hot. Yes, it's hot enough to burn... And so as the people are wowed, the fire spreads across the curtains and hits the gas stove, creating a small explosion and coincidentally, the Japanese restaurant right beside it, seperated by a wall opens its doors unaware of the danger next door. It uses tatami flooring... Yes, thats wood that burns easily. And if you haven't guessed, the Japanese restaurant is lit like a candle. Now there's really chaos. Everyone is running out, and the worst thing is there's a gas station and the internet hub that supplies the server that lets anyone use transmitting devices or the internet. Less said, theres a boom, a big boom. The people have evacuated, but the internet hub is devastated. No more internet so............................................................................................. but I'm not there, my internets not affected. Now the astrology space center is shrouded with rushing ashes and smoke. Not good. They are having a launch and from the control, they can't see the rocket. But the launch continues anyway. They fail to notice a safety latch is not on... The rocket fires with a blat sideways. Communication is cut off with the rocket due to the destruction of the internet hub. Now thats bad... The rocket is piloted by a greenhorn on his first expedition. Its his last one too. The rocket has to make a round to get back on course, but it runs out of fuel, hitting a communication satellite. It falls back to earth and reactivates a dormant volcano, which causes a lava flow, breaking through a dam, causing a inland tidal wave. If thats not good enough, the volcano spurts out so much ashes it blocks the sun for hours, and a sole flying solar powered plane suddenly loses all four engines and crashes into the sea. It takes a mere wreckage of a plane to tap a subducting plate, and it snaps up a good 50m. Nothing happens. The end. Or is it? A small wave rushes along and as it gets to shore, it swells up to 5 times its size 250m. That has to leave a mark. Then the rocket crashes into the earth's side, knocking it into the course of the sun. The world gets hotter and finally everyone dies. The real end.

And next, if you don't think this is a blog prompt, in India, from the look of it during NIC, to go organic is healthy. Organic food has just less pesticide and is more naturally made. It does not mean organic is healthier. Well the people in this line of business never advertised organic being healthier. On the subject of health enthusiast or health freaks I believe I like healthier, like a health enthusiast . Althoguh not as serious, I like to control my eating habits.Like recently, I didn't eat any cake as I thought it would be fattening. And I don't eat chicken skin or put anything on a salad. I believe when health enthusiast becomes health freak is when they take it overboard and start overexercising or fussing over 1 or two calories, or taking only one product because it has less sugar fat or salt. Being healthier will help you lengthen your life. Just don't take it overboard.

Shanghai: English as it is broken

Grammar, spelling, most of this.

Going to Shanghai gives you a huge variety of english mistakes.

Lets say:

I found this at the airport. And at a retail factory outlet.

Same retail area. Shanghai is not really known for its english.

This was at a park.
The one on the left is a sign for renting electronic boats in a lake.

Lotteries- THINK

Lotteries may be an economic lure, due to the amount of revenue made each year, but for your social life and morals, it can be a disaster. Lotteries in an area may give rise to another problem Compulsive Gambling. I believe buying lottery tickets, may give you a high, making you feel good, on the meagre chances that you would actually win. If you did, you would probably put that money you won back into the lottery, thinking that your lucky streak will not end. It probably did already end. Saw any black cats lately? So the money would just disappear. Not through some ghostly means but probably through your own hands at the lottery. You would want to gamble more to recoup your losses. So you end up in a lose situation. Your chances are probably 1 in 13 million. Why take the chance. Asking my dad, i have decided not to quote him entirely. He always has some way of insulting anybody or maybe blaming himself. I don't want any government getting me into trouble for this. So he said, " why open lotteries and tear apart the morals of singaporeans, causing trouble in their families and financial problems, when people waste their money buying slips of papers which have numbers and this small bit of hope under the illusion that they may be making a big amount of money?" So he believes that gambling has not very good prospects for anyone, an therefore does not gamble. Its true, i have not seen him gambling anywhere, and when he does have to play mahjong, he plays with no stakes. (according to my mom, mahjong improves your memory.) The NPCG advertistment also brings up a point. Im against lotteries as they may give rise to the problem of compulsive gambling, and as in the advertistment, they give a lot of excuses to gamble. They would say that is their last try, but how many last tries do you think they may have done. Once you gamble, it is difficult to stop as you think your next try will be lucky, and just waste your money. So to quote the advertistment,"Often the people who really suffer from problem gambling aren't the gamblers." those would be the family members. I still dont believe in easy money as that is easy come, easy go. The money that is made would be gone just as easily. Dont start. So that is why i am against lotteries.

I made a cute little song for it sung as twinkle twinkle little star. More about slot machines though

Give me money, shooting star

Give me money, shooting star,
Instead I wished upon a bar
If three met, little win
Never big, it was a sin
Wasted money, shooting star,
how I wish I did not start.

Favorite Poets - E learning

"For here the lover and killer are mingled who had one body and one heart. And death who had the soldier singled has done the lover mortal hurt."

Keith Douglas is my favorite poet, and this is a quote from one of his poems. He writes many war poems and intrigues me with his stands and perspectives. Keith Douglas is a good poet because he manages to convey a message that war is horrible in different perspectives such as a soldier killing or the only soldier surviving in the second world war. (that was a thesis statement, was it??)

Keith douglas did not have a really pretty life. His parents were financially poor, and their marriage collapsed, leaving Keith with his mother. He reflected on his childhood that "I lived alone during the most fluid and formative years of my life, and during that time I lived on my imagination, which was so powerful as to persuade me that the things I imagined would come true." By University his poetic talent was recognised but he could only publish one of his volumes of poetry before he was sent to army and the war. After certain battles, he would recount them and that would become part of his poetry. Pity he died young, in his army years.

Why does Keith Douglas intrigue me? He focuses on a external impression, making even the enemies of the allied (he was english) look humane. The people in his poems have mothers, people they care about, and not just killing. This makes his poems a lot more realistic. He has many different perspectives but all convey one message, that war is horrible, and not wanted. Like in the poem, How to Kill (i remember just doing some brief stuff on that) it shows how a soldier kills an enemy. The poem makes the enemy seem normal, and by killing. The description of the enemy is: "He smiles, and moves about in ways his mother knows, habits of his." And yet Keith Douglas makes killing this person supposed to be the enemy, a burden on the soldier's mind. So it is easy to kill but difficult to handle the consequences, showing that the poet does not like war.Vergissmeinnicht (Forget-me-not) is another poem by him, showing the aftermath of the battle. It describes tanks guns like demons mouths the place as a nightmare ground and is able to let you see a picture of the horrific effects of war.Cairo Jag was written when he was sent to the subsaharan area, near the middle east. He describes Cairo as a place but in the last stanza reaches a new world, a warground, where vegetation is of iron, metal brambles have have no flowers or berries, the dead themselves, their boots, clothes and possessions clinging to the ground, and manages to put a huge difference between cairo and a warground near cairo.

My favorite poem

The Death-Bed by Siegfried Sassoon
He drowsed and was aware of silence heaped
Round him, unshaken as the steadfast walls;
Aqueous like floating rays of amber light,
Soaring and quivering in the wings of sleep.
Silence and safety; and his mortal shore
Lipped by the inward, moonless waves of death.

Someone was holding water to his mouth.
He swallowed, unresisting; moaned and dropped
Through crimson gloom to darkness; and forgot
The opiate throb and ache that was his wound.
Water—calm, sliding green above the weir.
Water—a sky-lit alley for his boat,
Bird- voiced, and bordered with reflected flowers
And shaken hues of summer; drifting down,
He dipped contented oars, and sighed, and slept.

Night, with a gust of wind, was in the ward,
Blowing the curtain to a glimmering curve.
Night. He was blind; he could not see the stars
Glinting among the wraiths of wandering cloud;
Queer blots of colour, purple, scarlet, green,
Flickered and faded in his drowning eyes

Rain—he could hear it rustling through the dark;
Fragrance and passionless music woven as one;
Warm rain on drooping roses; pattering showers
That soak the woods; not the harsh rain that sweeps
Behind the thunder, but a trickling peace
,Gently and slowly washing life away.

He stirred, shifting his body; then the pain
Leapt like a prowling beast, and gripped and tore
His groping dreams with grinding claws and fangs.
But someone was beside him; soon he lay
Shuddering because that evil thing had passed.
And death, who'd stepped toward him, paused and stared.

Light many lamps and gather round his bed
.Lend him your eyes, warm blood, and will to live.
Speak to him; rouse him; you may save him yet.
He's young; he hated War; how should he die
When cruel old campaigners win safe through?

But death replied: 'I choose him.' So he went,
And there was silence in the summer night;
Silence and safety; and the veils of sleep.
Then, far away, the thudding of the guns.

This is a war poem as you can see in the last paragraph Then far away, the thudding of guns. WHere a man, in his deathbed, is far away from the war, and in safety and silence. The is use of figurative language in the poem, like in the first stanza, there is personification as the silence takes a human action, and "heaped" around him. In the next stanza, there is a lot of reference to water, that he remembers, his good memories on a summer day, and in the third stanza, there is use of personification as the clouds are seen to wander, and the use of metaphor as the clouds are referred to as blots of colour, purple, scarlet, green, and the use of the word drowning is a hyperbole, as it shows his struggle against death. In the next stanza, there is more reference to water, in the form of rain. And there is a hint that he would die, as the rain was slowly and gently washing life away. In the next stanza, it is shown a simile as the pain is referred like a prowling beast, and this is yet another personification as the pain "gripped and tore" his dreams with "grinding claws and fangs". By the next stanza, the people know the person is going to die, and are gathering. The person next died in his sleep, and there was silence, once again.

Why I like this poem
War poems are somehow nice, with the person dying, but what a person thinks of when he his killing another or dying of a wound. Take another poem, how to kill, yet another war poem, but since i did it before, i believe this would be a good add on to see what people think and what happens, when they die. Death is seen as a person and the poem actually needs you to read in depth to actually check whats the meaning of the poem. It is also more simply written, unlike those with Thou, Thee, Thy and others like those. Those are just difficult to read.

Do we control technology, or does it control us?

Do we control technology or does technology control us?

ROBOTS TAKE OVER THE CITY!!!!!!!!!
Does that sound a lot like technology controlling the world? Now that is a bit exxagerated as technology can control us in more subtle ways. Take using the internet for research. What happens if the internet collapses and the fabrics of websites get ripped to shreds? Would you be able to get convienient research? We are sometimes, so reliant on technology if techology is not accessible, we cannot get anything done. Actually, technology can be even classified as simple things like knives, books, picture frames, and stuff like that. So we are in a world of technology, and it is impossible not to use any. Even basic wheels and plastic containers are technology, however primitive, so we are heavily reliant on technology. This is a small form of controlling. There is another scenario. In a way, technology is used to kill. Guns, machetes, nets, guns, grenades, bombs, guns are all technology. If technology advances way too quickly, new ways of killing, biological weapons, can all be found. So even though, we are able to control the growth of technology or technology itself, manifested in the forms of things, it is easily able to control us.

I am lying. True or False?

To this philosophy there are two ways of explaining, one the direct way and the other the Push-out-all-your-thoughts-that-do-not-make-sense-into-a-single-blog-prompt way.

So at first we will try the Push-out-all-your-thoughts-that-do-not-make-sense-into-a-single-blog-prompt way. (If you don't like meaningless explanations just skip this)

I am lying. True or False. Well, If I were to say it were true, then I would be lying as in that statement, I told the truth. But if I was in fact telling the truth, ignoring that fact, it means I am lying on that statement. But If I lied about me lying, I would be telling the truth which is contradictory as I am lying. So even if the statement is false that means I am telling the truth. But I cannot be telling the truth because I am lying. Which brings me to my next statement, about lies and truths If you are telling the truth about a truth you are telling the truth. If you are telling a lie about the lie you are telling the truth. So what does this say? If this statement is true its false and if it were false its true. So my final answer is... ah i forgot again. Never mind just move on.
____________________________________________________________________

An better explanation

First for starters lets look and think about the statement. When you look at a lie maybe something like we call Cinda (first thing away from register 26) horrible nicknames everyday which is obviously a lie. So if you say true you are referring to us calling Cinda horrible nicknames everyday and if you say False you are also referring to us calling Cinda horrible nicknames everyday. But with the statement I am lying the only thing you can refer to is the fact that you are lying. Since it refers to itself, it is called self-referential. This is also part of the paradox. Now the mathematical way. Now since this statement only deals with true or false lets make true a + and false or lying a - . since the statement I am lying is a - you can see how it continues. In math a - times a - is a + and a + times a - or a -times a + is a -. In other words:

- X - = +
+ X - = -
- X + = -

So saying true to this statement results in a - times a + which is a -. But - means lying so what you put as a truth comes out as a lie.
On the other hand saying false to this statement results in a - times a - which is a +. But + means truth so what you put as a lie comes out as a truth.

Weird isnt it. This sentence is a contradiction, or a paradox, more referred to as the liar's paradox. It is difficult to actually understand it.

Philosophy Should you criticise people or the opinions they have?

Should you criticise people or their opinions?

Criticism is both beneficial and bad to people. The beneficial part is, it gives you chance to improve. Why would there be three people as judges in Singapore or American Idol telling you all your weak points and telling you "you suck" blatantly? These judges have high standards, but also are giving tips to improve (although it seems like insults) . More relevant is RS, where the three judges critisize your work, in order to make it improve, to become the best or at least better. Critisizing people could make them change for the better too. When you get a job, criticism is important. It could even be part of your job. But to put it in way, criticism can give your boss think that you are good.

But also it has its bad points. critisizing people can cause them emotional breakdowns, lose their will to continue and perservere. It depends on how harsh you are. Well also it is wrong to criticise people's opinion as your opinion on that matter may be different but not better. Even if their views are more extremist (government protesters chaining themselves to trees) they may not be wrong (in your opinion) . In their opinion, you may be wrong!

So criticism wins 8 - 5 lines. Criticise away ! (Not on me I dont need useless comments or rants)

Perfect World

Perfect worlds are not possible. firstly, the way perfect is defined, it would be due to perspective anyway. All the itty bitty little details have to be liked by everyone, then everyone would call it perfect. But there are too many likings by different people, like when you ask a bunch of playground kids on their perfect world, one would go "Oh Oh I want the volcanoes to be made of chocolate!" " No! No, chocolate makes me dizzy, Sugar Peanut for mountain please!" "I'm allergic to peanut, what about a sugar mountain?" So we all have different definitions of perfect, and what are the chances of two, with all their choices of things and even position of them. Let alone the entire world, be the same??? Also, human nature is also to be better than the rest, greedy, selfish, caring only about ourselves. These characteristics could soon destroy us, so how would we be able to make a perfect world. Before a perfect world, there need to be perfect people. But I cannot say Im perfect, or anything I do is perfect, and along with perfect, everything has to be the same. I also cannot say others or their characteristics are perfect. There is always room to improve. Another point is, even if there were perfect worlds, can they actually be maintained? If they cant, they are not perfect. In Bhuddism ( I've read books) To become perfect and happy is to successfully detach yourself from any of lifes desires, and care for others before yourself. Even then you are not perfect. Perfection of the world is not possible.

Philosophy Truth and Everything but the truth (lie)

If everybody thought something is true, is it true?

Not always. Lets say an easy example: A popular party (maybe from a certain school in bishan) announces and uses subliminal messaging and propaganda to say "Hwa Chong Sucks" in a way like "HWA CHONG SUCKS???? no way !" ( just look at the capital letters) ok fine away from that and everyone thinks the party is right. Obviously its not right? (HWA CHONG ROCKS) Lets say also about lawyers. Two of them, fighting over some random case: lets say a girl was raped by a man and the woman sues the man. Lawyers are like fighting over a blind case, with only little evidence. There are three scenarios: The usual one being the man did rape the girl, the less surprising one being the girl was raped by someone but not the man and he was framed ( also interesting) and another one being the girl was not raped and was suing the man to get money (who knew women could be this evil) no matter which case, its not what is really right, what did happen that day, it is about which lawyer can convince the judge. No one had saw and could prove that which of the scenarios were the truth. So the better lawyer wins, and gets money even if the client is obviously in the wrong. So the person who wins may not be right, although the public believes it is right. On a side note, lawyers are teased and joked because even if any of the three possibilities happen, the lawyers are the beneficiary. (They get paid no matter what, a lot and to put it into symbols, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)

So in this case, if one lawyer manages to convince the judge, even if that may not be the truth but everyone still thinks the lawyer is right.

Truth can be influenced and distorted easily. If you once thought this but a influential group that you trust and believe thought that, you would also think that so you are not giving what you really think (which is this[boy this is more confusing than I thought]) Usually truth are distorted for a person's gain. A weird truth that is distorted (lie) is a white lie. Its usually harmless and looks something like this.

Wife: Hows this dress?

Husband thinks : *Boy she looks idiotic*

Husband (politically correct answer): Darling you look great in anything!

Distorting truth can also be used to blow up or quieten down incidents removing information that is not wanted, through the media and stuff like television newspapers and the Internet. Then people would get a wrong impression of this.

55 fiction- random tries again/computer games

Getting together:

You could call it a party. Foreigners, strangers, does not matter. We are chatting about events in our lives.

I see my colleague. Wincing with pain, I grip her arm. She smiles.

Only if everyone could keep quiet, they would hear me shouting. After all, buried alive by debris is a bad way to die.

_____________________________________________________________________

On to the real stuff:

"Teenagers should not be allowed to play computer games"

The probable answer is NO WAY. I mean a teenager not liking to play computer games, what are the chances. Altough computer games have their bad points, but the term responsibility is very important. I play computer games too, but not everyday. You must have self discipline, even during the freer holidays and stop yourself from playing hours on and on. Having this statement is like this argument:

"Want to go to place A?"

"Yes, but going there is difficult, you see... blah blah blah... are you sure you have the time?"

"fine, then we dont go."

" But I want to go to place A."

"Then we'll go."

"But its so difficult."

"Then we wont go altogether."

Computer games may be similar to this. As computer games have many bad points (which adults always LOVE to emphasize) it would be better to just not play them altogether. Like I said, responsibility is important. You have responsibility to stop playing at a certain time (eg midnight) then your parents will definitely allow you to play.

Well to my opinion, not all teenagers do not have self discipline or responsibility (double negatives) so not all teenagers should not be stopped from playing computer games. I believe I have enough responsibility to play computer games (teehee) and unlike somebody, do not spam videos like Arby n the ch33f (ignore that).

Gah. Blocked. Continued if possible.

My first semester as a secondary school student

do not mind, but this mEssage is so Not written in CODE. got that ? Do not try to tell me hat this message is in code. ( all right you should be still able to read this )

Few mnthos sncie my PSLE, and I am porgsesirng wlel. I am sifetaisd wtih my rlusets.

Fine I have to hand this up during before the end of the period so i will REALLY start writing. (inay igpay atinlay)

Summary

  1. Plus side
  2. Minus side
  3. "Interesting" points
  4. Future plans

1. Fine. I am satisfied with my school, consortium (GEP), class(not), and CCA. I am in the school band, not one of the choices I once had in mind (actually air rifle). I play the horn, which is a difficult instrument, but band is a fun CCA, there are competitions/ performances and you get to enjoy the music (except the screwed up notes) Even though CCAs in Hwa Chong have HUGE commitment,(we have to go back in the holidays) there are outings/ many, many tours overseas, but we do not have any currently ( because of a particular swine flu *ahem*)

On to the next point. I like the lessons, especially IS (infocomm studies) We get to learn basic skills in whatever, flash, photoshop, DevC++ (this isnt really a english word), movie maker or HTML (computer language, please ignore) And the lessons are very useful, instead of spamming Homework (unlike a certain school in Bishan) Hwa Chong is more projects based. This is more practical as you would not get homework when you grow up to work. So the point of all this is: I like projects where teamates do not slack.

Another plus is blogging. Looking back at P4 (horrible memories of another philmann like person) I realise that there is not much to stuff on a blog, but with hwa chong there is much rewards for your thinking (eg ace points) for topics, usually on interesting things around the world and a bit of current knowledge. And it takes up more time than homework, but I like these as there is usually no time limit. There is also alot of competitons or ace stuff (like tours in history), which demand time but are really fun .

Minus

2. This is not a rant. How I wish it was, So It would be So much easier. A boy from hwa chong is more stressed than most from a neighbourhood school - there is Rarely Any chance to No, not rant, To rest. (codes are difficult to write)

School is more demanding now. Obvious, but now we are progressing into the third term, where it will be the most demanding time, to max out our ACE. Problems may start to crop up, like Philmann (yet again) in another saga of behavior problems. Hwa Chong really pushes you to your limit. That means higher stress levels. But I go along, taking everything as it comes. Now, homework and projects are much more than during P6. Exam results are also important, CCA is a lot of commitment and my holidays are filled up with events. The End of year exams will pose a biger challenge. But for now, I am more slack. Also, troublemakers are also my hates, those who disrupt the class. There are not really many minuses about this school though.

Interesting facts:

3. This is a whole list of facts that encompasses what interesting points there may be.

Firstly, ispark as GEP ers are usually looked down, teased on but this year, the rivalry seems to the extent the consortiums are booing each other now.

Secondly, table tennis is played alot in school this year (wonder if last year was the same)

Thirdly, Music is looked on as a joy, or fear, because of a certain teacher...

Also, for this semester, Monday is the best day for 1i1ans. (arent you supposed to HATE mondays)

And to add on, the stuff in a classroom spoil unbelievably quickly

Amazingly, there are so many reports of lost things in Hwa Chong.

Also, on some days, everybody stays in class to rush homework

eight (darn ran out of stuff), it is nice to sit in your class as the wind just blows, and it is very cooling

nine when we have to make trips to eg. the computer lab or to the science/ art block and to music class, we rely on Matthew as a marker (to get there before him)

ten, it is tradition to stay in class on certain days because of long queue at the canteen

eleven, we give a stare or keep away from people at the end of the term who get an MSG of more than 4.0 in 1i1

twelve, the computer always needs fixing

Future plans:

4. I believe I have a few goals to achieve

  • To get into icouncil
  • get an MSG of below 1.5 (currently not)
  • to beat xianda at playing the horn
  • To get a new horn/ mouthpiece

But with these I probably have to work harder (be more enthusiastic in lessons and Band) and then get into CSE in sec 3.

to be continued??

55 fiction- random tries

Just some random tries:

Target down

I zigzag around the area, scanning for a target to steal.

Aha! The queen!

Security looks tight. I think:

The crown? Jewellery? No. It’s something more important

Waiting, I aim. She's walking near the crowd.

With precision, I strike. A perfect hit and run!

Her Majesty restrains.

A glorious steal! Pity I’m just a mosquito.

H1N1- Influenza A

Recently there have been cases of Remove Formatting from selectionH1N1 in the world and the flu is quickly spreading. It aims to give the entire world a fever (Even global warming is doing that). So here are some quick facts about the flu, hope to clear up doubts:

H1N1 for the Completely clueless:

1- The flu once called swine flu, DOES NOT come from pigs. Yes it does not come from Mexicans either. If you do think that, you don't catch up on your newspapers. And yes there is such a flu. If you don't even know that there is a coming pandemic, or if there is even such a flu, there is a chance that you are slightly retarded. Technically it is a mix of avian, swine and human flu. It is spread from human to human, (by sneezing and coughing, not by smooching or hugging!) No, the human flu does NOT come from Mexicans either. Just think it like this. A virus infects someone and turns him/her into a zombie (Resident Evil much) and then the zombie goes around infecting people. This goes on slowly until... maybe not such a good analogy. No, you wont get turned into zombies either.

2- Since the flu does not come from pigs, you must be asking,"Then where does it come from?" Well the answer is , it comes out of nowhere! Just that the Mexicans were unlucky. A person may show no symptoms even when infected (Well thats clever of a flu virus) but H1N1 may be difficult to detect because of this characteristic. Batches of sesonal flu may also be mixed up, just like H3N2. No, you cannot go on holiday if you are infected. No, the virus is not shooed away if you eat lots of garlic. It sure drives your friends away though. Have you seen this game called Pandemic? you control the virus/ bacteria/ parasite. To win, you have to devastate the world leaving NOTHING left. Either that or kill as much as possible. So the easiest strategy is to make sure the micro-organism as a high infection rate and practically no symptoms, support it with resistances, then when the world is infected, increase lethality rate. The world will come up with a vaccine, but if everyone is infected, there will be noone to cure. This seems to be what the H1N1 virus is doing, it has a low mortality rate of 6-7%. No, computer viruses do not originate from the flu.

3- Singapore is supposedly more prepared then in the period of SARS. SARS also came out of nowhere, but at that time, we did not know what it was, so there was a high mortality rate. We werent prepared for SARS, but even though we are prepared for H1N1, the fight wont be over in a short while like SARS. No, not because SARS came from the Mexicans (sheesh) but because infectious diseases come in waves, one after another, getting more lethal every time. We know what the flu is (unlike somebody) so Tamiflu and Relenza can be used. Quoted form Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan, "For healthy Singaporeans or those who have not been overseas recently, get on with your life. Go out , exercise, cycle, brisk walk, go dancing, whatever. We all know when you are active and have enough sleep, you are in top form, you are less likely to get the flu." It is just a matter of time before the flu hits.

GM foods vs organic

composed some random poem to do with this:

Genetically Modified Food
Is it bad? Or is it good?
However I am positive, sure
Larger produce provides a lure.
Have you tasted some potatoes
Same to do with tomatoes
Their survival rate cut short by pests
Insecticides? No, the only success
Is with GM! Its GM you hear
driving away diseases just like a cure
Changing their structure to feed our needs
fruity and juicy, even without seeds
Change it to be grown, in hot or cold
Also nutritious, we are told
Better than normal variety
In theory, attractive like a flower to a bee.
Right now you may be nodding your head
agreeing with whatever I have said.
Wait! Is this.. as far as we can get!
Whats that article on the Internet?
GM FOOD, BEHIND THE SCENES.
How scientists play around with plants and genes.
There are many potential harms
GM food may bring to the farm.
not targeted species could actually die,
after ingesting toxins they could go bye-bye
Pollen spread genes to the weeds
giving them resistance and destroying the seeds
Children could get an allergic reaction
Unknown effects a cause of protection
Health warning, carcinogen
Consume these and your life will burn
But who knows if its a rumor, is it fake?
Just like swimming to the bottom of a murky lake.
Will it affect, will we live in fear
this is because the truth is unclear
Minimal experiments little research used
So many rumors, we are confused.
To listen to whom? study biology?
The whole reason: GM is a mystery!
GM food is unknown, so we fear it,
but clear up the doubts, bit by bit,
and maybe the truth would be found,
and the explanation given is sound.
We are just over catious
the thought of sickness makes us anxious
So we advance forward, moving day by day,
the reseach adds up - we wait for that day!

Mother's Memorable read

One of mom's favourite book that she can remember..is TOTO CHAN - A Little Girl by the Window . The Author she knew was a Japanese author - we had to search on the Web for her name . Tethusko Kuroyanagi . Mom read this book many years back. She can't really remember the details of the story but what she could remember is that this is actually a Children's Story , written in a fascinatingly simple language and it is ideal for both children and parents .

The Storyline as she remembers was that the story was about a little japanese girl and her journey through her elementary school . In a way, this is an Ultimate School that allows the author to learn what she likes, there is no compulsion to do subjects that she has no interest in.
The books should be read by children , adults, educators .. so that we can learn the ways that qualities can be developed in a interesting and carefree manner.

The reason why Mom still remembers the story is that it is something that struck her. Learning is an interesting journey and none of the children in the story had to learn things they do not like . This is really something that the current education system does not offer today.

This IDEAL , FASCINATING and even FAR-FETCHED education system is something one would dream of .

Unseen Horrors - Crater Lakes

August 1986 Lake Nyos - Cameroon

The village was intact, however unusually quiet. Nothing seemed to have changed at all, but there was a deathly silence, even the surrounding forest was silent, as if they were looking onwards to see what had happened. A defeaning crackle, that was a tree snapping like a twig, rolling down to rest at the foot of the mountain Cameroon sat on, a deathly white. However, this all paled to lake Nyos, its waters hissing lethaly, a bright orange colour. The murky mysterious lake had claimed 1700 victims in a single night. The forest around the crater lake Nyos was suffocated, draining trees of their colour and life and not even sparing the ground, weakened and crumbling and unable to support life any more.

A wave of sweeping gas had covered Cameroon the day before. The gas was virtually poison, wiping out almost every sign of life. There was no time to run or anywhere to hide. Cattle had died, seemingly sleeping on the ground on the way to the village, but their eyes were open, having been strangled by the gas. The village was a ghost town too, with the villagers dead in their everyday activities. A woman, holding her ladle in one of the thatched huts, was boiling a pot of soup. Also, many others, also suffocated, were doing things like reading and sleeping. The area was dead, and many had died horrifically, their eyes wide open, suffering burning sensations in their eyes, strangled by the gas.

The lake still sauturated with carbon dioxide, the area is still contaminated, going grey near the lake from the loss of vegetation. The disaster could strike again. Not on there, but in various crater lakes in Africa. Lake Nyos was a warning. It could happen, so we must always be prepared.

eyesight lost- the horrifying experience

April 1 2002

April fools day. Lying in the bed in total blackness. I blink. Ouch, my eye still tinges. What time is it? I turn over, reach out for the clock, instead swipe it off the table. It drops to the floor with a ring. Then I was calm one second, and paralysed with terror the next. There was some racing fear in my mind, and my heart pounded louder. I couldnt see. Groping around in the darkness, my fingers feel the floor for the clock. Bending to pick it up, I fall off the bed. Curling up in a ball on the cold hard floor, I think,"This has to be some joke. Its April Fools day. Come on. Calm yourself.

This has to be a joke

April 2 2002

Woke up to the talking of two women. I could tell. They were mumuring. I heard a familiar voice. "Ron, Ron. You awake?" My eyes opened still to a dark world of nothingness. I heard someone urge softly to get on with the experiment. Experiment? What experiment? Someone sighed, and said no response whatsoever. A soft bout of crying, and footsteps clacking down the hallway quickly.

April 7 2002
Out of the hospital. I have accepted what happened. My parents are making arrangements. I need someone to follow and guide me everywhere. A kind woman, encouraging me to get on with everything. Accidents may happen, but get on with life. I'm going to a new school for the visually challenged, where I'll learn Brialle. I realised how extremely disabled I am, unable to type read or write. The woman is helping me type this. Whats her name? oh yeah, Mrs Samantha.

April 13 2002
Getting on with life in eternal darkness. It is difficult to even brush my teeth. I feel helpless and pitiful. But life has to go on...

April 23 2002
Learnt to use the walking stick. Mrs Samantha today thought me about god and all the other stuff. About Adam and Eve and Noah and Jesus. Feel since I cant watch television or use the computer, it would be okay for Mrs Samantha to tell me about Christianity. I'm bored anyways.

great leaders of the world- Martin Luther King Jr

"I have a dream"

These words were said from one of the greatest leaders in the world, the person who stood up to racial segregation and succeeded the person who ended inequality between the blacks and whites - Martin Luther King Jr. He was the right man, during the right time. When racial segregation got so bad, a black could be arrested or even killed, for making a remark, or refusing to let whites sit down on the bus as they were tired. Even highly educated blacks would be forbidden to serve as Juries or vote or even get a job as a white would always been the priority even if the Black was the best for the job. Segregation could be summed up into this joke:

Students from a class were returning back from recess, and so the teacher asked one of the students,"Tommie, what have you been doing during recess?"
"I was playing in the sandbox."
"Very good, now if you spell me sand, I'll give you a freshly baked cookie."
Next the teacher asked Jane,"Jane, what have you been doing during recess?"
"I was playing with Tommie in the sandbox."
"Good, If you spell me box, the cookie is yours."
Next she asked Ahmad, who was bruised all over," Ahmad, what have you been doing during recess?"
"I wanted to play with Tommie and Jane in the sandbox, but they threw stones at me."
So the teacher replied," Now class, this is what we call blatant racial discrimination. If you can spell blatant racial discrimination, I'll give you a cookie."

But now, the movement of Martin Luther King Jr brought that all to an end. Now, racial discrimination seems like a thing of the past. He was courageous to stand up too the whites when it seemed all was lost. Between that, he had to hold out with death threats, and it was to the extent that his home was once blown up with his wife and children inside.

In 1955, he led the famous bus boycott for the civil rights of black people, as they were always made to stand or at most sit at the back of the bus, making them seem unequal. So he succeeded and made a small step to racial equality in.

His most important quote was of course "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character" Martin Luther King was given a Nobel Peace prize for his efforts. He was although assassinated in 1968 while standing on the balcony leading a protest.

Traits that make Martin Luther King a great leader:
Courage
Inspires people to act (good talker)
Peserverance
Wise

Earth Hour total win

Last Saturday was earth hour. Started as an initiative by Sydney in 2007, this is now a growing global trend, and this year, Singapore has made a start, when many over 2000 people came to the Esplanade park and celebrated by candlelight. Also many companies have pledged their support to this Earth Hour. Macdonalds I heard, was about to off their famous golden arch M in the signage outside. Strangely I didnt get the chance to see any "acdonalds". Instead of celebrating at home, we went for dinner at a Teochew resteraunt. It seems that they did too did pledge their support, but at the wrong time! When we arrived at about 6 (went there early to go back before Earth hour) There was a area that was totally empty(we were extremely early for dinner) that was totally turned off. It was like this until about 7.15, when it started to get crowded, they turned on one more portion. It went on until 8.00 when all portions were turned on.(It was a big restaurant) That was such a difference.
After coming back, we realised how difficult it was to do anything without lights. My brother's Canberra friend turned off all the lights but instead turned on all the air conditioners and the computer he was using. What a waste. There was no reading or rushing homework (which was what I wanted to do) for one hour. No com or TV too. I hour in total boringness, with only candles we couldnt read by. (About 6 of the candles had enough light not to spoil your eyes while reading. We only had four. So that was also a waste of time. All we did was sit on a chair and look at the marvellous stars.(Sirius is the brightest) and enjoy the wind (the wind around Lower seletar resevoir is strong every night and morning) Then I realised this is how difficult it is when you are blind. Not much more difficult to move around but still. No reading, or it is slow, no watching TV using the computer or even marvelling at the stars. Earth hour is a once in a while experience. It was not that bad.
Sceptically speaking, even if you are using candles, low quality candles could emit more carbon dioxide than the lightbulb itself.

5 really fun (and destructive) ways to celebrate Earth Hour.
1. Turn off all your cars hazard lights on your car
2. Turn off all street lamps
3. Turn off all lights in a lift (to freak people out)
4.Turn off the Amut in Amusement in an Amusement park
5. Turn off the lights in a firing range (dont forget to turn the people who are firing towards each other)

How to kill-

Weird poem. Barely rhymes but has a lot of representatives.

How to kill
By Keith Douglas

Under the parabola of a ball,
a child turning into a man,
I looked into the air too long.
The ball fell in my hand,
it sang in the closed fist: Open Open
Behold a gift designed to kill.

Now in my dial of glass appears
the soldier who is going to die.
He smiles, and moves about in ways
his mother knows, habits of his.
The wires touch his face: I cry
NOW. Death, like a familiar, hears

And look, has made a man of dust
of a man of flesh. This sorcery
I do. Being damned, I am amused
to see the centre of love diffused
and the wave of love travel into vacancy.
How easy it is to make a ghost.

The weightless mosquito touches
her tiny shadow on the stone,
and with how like, how infinite
a lightness, man and shadow meet.
They fuse. A shadow is a man
when the mosquito death approaches
.

Inferences:
This poem is about world war 2.
"parabola"- a curve, used in math sometimes used when throwing things into the air. (Gravity causes it not to travel in a straight line.
Under the parabola of a ball ... a child turning into a man... an gift designed to kill.
When the person is in childhood, he throws and catches balls but when he grows up to become a man during a war he throws and catches grenades instead. Ball, designed to kill
Dial of glass...appears the soldier who is about to die...wires touch his face
Definitely a scope(in a war) and the wires are the aiming areas.
A man of dust out of a man of flesh. This sorcery I do
That means to kill. Flesh to dust, alive to dead
The weightless mosquito touches
A mosquito travels like a bullet, swiftly, stealthily and deadly
When man and shadow meet... they fuse
Dying again. Shadow means nothingness when something becomes nothing it is like death.

Sad -.-

So few ppl visit my blog its too mundane: I dunno how to change blogskin.
*smacksheadwithpalm*

The Lottery , my view

The lottery is a short story by Shirley Jackson, and this is what I think about it.

The lottery was a very welcome festival and in all ways makes you think that it was normal: "Soon the men began to gather surveying their own children, speaking of planting and rain, tractors and taxes." and "The women, wearing faded dresses and sweaters, came shortly afetr their manfolk. They greeted one another and exchanged bits of gossip as they went to join their husbands." This is normal, and stated nothing about the unusual ending. Also there is anticipation and nervousness during the lottery, as shown in paragraph 9 in their tone "Mr Summers who had been waiting said cheerfully,"Thought we were going to have to get on without you Tessie." Mrs Hutchinson said grinning, "Wouldn't have me leave m'dishes on the sink, now would you Joe?" and the way the story was told was in such a casual friendly tone, it told me at first that the lottery was a good thing! It was not until the end when they told us the fate of the winners. In this unusual context which was supposedly pointless, many wrote to express thier disgust when this was first published. In the time this story was written, tradition was probably rampant. In paragraph 17, they described the people who gave up the lottery a pack of crazy fools. This was because of "Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon." It is ridiculous that over a good harvest, the lottery is held and a sacrifice is made. Even tradition could split apart friends as just a while ago they were chatting happily! At the end, in paragraph 30 "Mrs Delacroix selected a stone so huge she had to pick it up with both hands" This ending, where Tessie got stoned, shows particularly how evil we can be, killing for our own good. Also this shows us how ritual behaviour: like "I killed for a yearly tradition" can be extremely dangerous.
When Mrs Hutchinson demanded that her daughter also be included in the lottery to improve her chances of living, it is also how much we can do to be desperate for our own life. We are all selfish. Sad.

Edit: OMG I just found out Delacroix means the cross in latin

Medicinal properties in animals- SAVETHEMOONBEAR

Moon bears are an endangered species. They are being hunted for their bile, which serves pharmaceutical usage by containing a component UDCA Quoting as a wiki fillers:

"Bear bile was prescribed by practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine because it contained a higher percentage of UDCA than the bile of other mammals. However, modern chemistry has made this fact irrelevant. Today, pharmaceutical-grade UDCA is now collected from slaughter houses, then purified and packaged under trade names such as Ursofalk, Actigall, and UrsoForte. These products are approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA). Chinese doctors have also endorsed several herbal substitutes, which provide a cheap, effective and readily available alternative."

So many facts like this seem irrelevant, and moon bears shoold not be hunted for their bile, but these horrible chinese bile farms may still have brisk business because of some factors:

  • Are the people in China aware of such a product, and therefore stop being reliant on bear bile ?

  • Is the product readily accesible?

  • Would the chinese continue ignoring these articles and reports and do nothing to change?

A quote from a website too includes that the bears were thin, and put under a lot of stress, riddled with parasites, draining pus and pain from the gall bladder. Rightfully, as moon bears are an endangered species, they should not be used for their medicinal properties, as this makes even more danger to their extinction. Defining bile, it actually has less medicinal or at most the same medicinal properties as drugs that do the same thing, and can be mass produces using horse bile. But maybe as moon bears are rarer, they may create bette bile, but however this is not true. OFten the peoples mindset may contribute to the brisk business for these Chinese men.

So I urge you. Change your mindset about medicinal properties in animals. I remphasize.
Bring a heart. Animals have lives too. Save the moon bear.

The Taximan STory

I have no I idea why this must be a blog prompt but here goes...

DO NOT CUT & PASTE

Irony: the taxi man picks the girls and English and American "boyfriends" in the taxi, going besides hotels and places like such to wait, but to make a quick buck, caring not to discourage such behavior. The evils of money, caused the daughter to become one like such person with behavior problems.

Was the older method, having complete authority over children, even up to marriage useful? Methods like caning for punishment , result in the same problem anyway?

Everything needs to be done in moderation. Quoted from the book: "My father he was very strict, and that is a good thing for parents to be strict. If not, young boys and girls become very useless." but with a more lenient person that happens. If the dad was too strict, would the person run away or confide in drinks and alcohol?

ANother theme is good and evil. The daughter being a good girl on one side but bad on the other. The taxi man, or her dad works hard to send her to university but she made herself so cheap, and the consequences were harsh. Talks or debates about curfews and freedom are still ongoing. A great saying ,with great power comes greater responsibility. But some adolescences still do not have the maturity to act decently and so freedom is taken away till the grow up, Freedom needs to be earned.

The general plot in the story is believable. I believe, many teenager are having sex at a younger age, and many are in love, or is that infatuation? HAnging around wearing the latest fashion, being a bigshot, spending lots of cash, these actions are done to impress others. Some women, use their beauty to seduce men or even teenagers. Soon, a love at first sight case could turn into nightclub parties, drinking and making love. Seduction proves horrible.

I feel sympathy for the taximan. Him having worked so hard during his job and having been caned and scolded by his parents, but only to be betrayed by the youngest daughter. Was it all her fault though?? Was the taximan to lax in his duty as a father?? maybe.

processed food -- the scoop

Fast foods, tinned food, ice cream, frozen food, all these are processed. Processed food are foods that have literally been processed and not in their natural state. Like tinned fruit with syrup, when the fruit, eg. lychee, longan, pineapple are no longer fresh. Most tinned food have a long shelf life but it means nutrients have been sucked out of the fruit when it was being processed. With reference to longans in heavy syrup, ( I eat these every like one month - a sinful snack) The vitamin C content of longans is about 60.1 mg/ 100 grams, and consuming 12 - 14 longans can already meet the daily requirement of 75 - 90mg of vitamin C. But tinned longans vitamin C content is about 4% of the daily requirement per 100 grams, and eating these( along with the syrup), you have to eat almost 50 of them! I reckon the vitamin C was washed out when the fruit are washed.

Processed foods are bad for us and sadly I eat somewhat a lot of them. I eat cornflakes as a snack whether sugary or not. I also love puff pastry. Occasionally I eat sausages. OK I guess but after reading this article on the Internet, quoting from: http://nutrition.about.com/od/askyournutritionist/f/processedfoods.htm
"Processed meats might be some of the worst of these foods. Eating these meats may increase your risk of colorectal, kidney and stomach cancer. Processed meats include hot dogs, bologna, sausage, ham and other packaged lunch meats."

Oh crap I'd better improve my diet.

Although most processed foods are bad, milk is an exception. Technically it is also a processed food, as fat has been skimmed of in the low fat or skimmed version, and the milk has been pasteurized. Also frozen vegetables may be good. While most frozen stuff, like meat lose flavour the more it is kept in the fridge, vegetables retain freshness and vitamins, making it convenient. The same goes with juices.

Joke

I just had to post this really funny joke:

A man went for a pun competition and sent in ten puns. He waited for the results but what he saw disappointed him. As it turned out:
No pun in ten did.

Lol you should get it after reading it one time.

Old equipment - Thursday

Wow. This is the first time I'm writing about other stuff. Yesterday there was a problem with the class com and then the entire thing hanged when it was starting up. On Wednesday there was a problem with the mouse so no teacher could log on. When we were supposed to be watching NIC the AVA reps were trying to figure out what was wrong.

The class cleanliness didn't work out and our class was the worst in the entire consortium.
Areas of Improvements:- Keep away old newspapers, magazines, unwanted items e.t.c.- Clear away the litter around the rubbish bin. ( taken from the SMB ) Well I hope that next time our facility secretary (philmann) would be more conscious about cleanliness and prompt us about the classes condition and the duty persons job. Mr Tan Kok Kim wants to meet the facilities secretary (is that a blessing or a curse?)

Reader's digest joke: The newly hired musician was having trouble keeping up with the cruise ship's orchestra. The captain got so fed up he threatened, " Either keep up with the band or I'll throw you overboard. Your choice: Sync or swim.

World's largest dam Three Gorges

The world's largest dam in China is called the three gorges dam. It is by far very expensive at 39 billion US dollars and also the most notorious dam ever made, drawing criticism from many environmental activists. The building of the dam has caused many problems on the source of the Yangtze river. Pros and cons include:

Pros

  • Flooding control: for many years the Yangtze has overflowed its banks due to monsoon rains, and building the dam reduces water flow into the mouth of the river, controlling flooding and blocking excess water. Many industries are built by the river and farmers also farm near as water is plentiful. To prevent a huge flood means many billions of dollars in damages can be avoided.
  • Environmental impact(positive): Hydro electricity by building the dam would reduce the country's dependence on coal, there for cutting carbon emissions. China is the largest emitter of carbon, and achieving clean hydro electric energy would bring China one step closer to stopping global warming. Also, Industries have been reminded to treat toxic waste before dumping it in the river and up to 65% (confirmed) of factories have done so. Also waste treatment sites have been built.
  • Reforestation has also been accelerated by the China government to prevent huge floods near the river basin.

Cons

  • Relocation: Relocation of many farmers would also have to take place, as water levels would obviously rise and flood many homes. Farmers are put off by the lack of assistance by local governments and sometimes even corruption can be a obstacle to farmers where tax money is taken and not paid as compensation to farmers.
  • Pollution and erosion : when water levels rise before the dam the ability to flush out pollutants by the river is slowed down so pollutants accumulate and may affect ecosystems. Also trees which are removed cannot hold on to soil with roots so erosion might occur. Sedimentation would affect water quality, and even, the silt may decrease the efficiency of the turbines. To clean up the entire river, over a billion yuan is needed. Also the sediments may block the entrance and cause dam failure and an overflow of water causing more floods.
  • Cultural and aesthetic problems: The dam causes many different cultural or historical artefacts to be submerged. Although some of them are removable, many historical locations cannot be removed because of its size or other factors.

Speech for prevention of whaling SPCA

Japan has a long history of whaling, dating back to the eighth century, when Emperor Jimmu, had the first taste of whale meat recorded from a old book, Kojiki. As of now, whaling in Japan has gone to dangerous levels, with Japan turning to the West for new methods of whaling. Japanese relationship with whales is strong, and from a story, a daughter was given a whale as a bride. With anything from the skin to the meat usable, it was going to be a huge problem as many whales started to be killed for commercial uses, quoting a famous proverb "There is nothing to throw away from a whale except its voice."

Whales are useful, they are a great source of protein after the nuclear bombs devastated Japan and food was scarce. The teeth are also known as sea ivory, which are carved into beautiful statues or etched with ink, made into pieces of art. The blubber is fine and free of any impurities allowing it to be used as a lubricant, or even heavily processed into cosmetic products.

In 1986, a commercial ban of whaling was introduced following a whopping 226000 tonnes being consumed in 1962. Yet Japan under the term of "research"were aiming to capture and kill at least 1,000 whales, including many endangered species, the largest whaling expedition ever in 2007. This is a large jump from 200 in 1985. The entire fleet of ships, proud of leading the expedition, ignored many countries advice on stopping the killing of whales. It had also received strong opposition from environmentalists and conservation groups. What is there to be "proud" of? Having the fate of all whales lying at your feet? Eating away the population of a species, driving them to extinction? Leading the entire fleet of ships to prepare for mass genocide? There is not much pride in taking away lives, especially when there is a already dwindling population of whales.

Many have reservations about the hunt having any scientific value. Japan said hunting of whales would not have an impact on whale populations, but non lethal forms of treatment, allowing the whale to survive, could produce the same effects.

But would it all be the Japanese fault? Whaling technology evolved from the United States and Britain in Europe. Implementation of whaling was also a move by them, industrializing so rapidly causing the once common whale to nearly disappear off the face of the Earth. Would the Japanese done the same?

There is hypocrisy and deception in Japanese research, probably the whales were hunted for commercial uses. If we work towards saving whales from Japanese tradition, we would know we did our part in saving endangered species .
